Wow, we've been married 11 years! That's a big number! We're in the double digits now!
It has been a great ride with lots of good memories and adventure!!
Instead of a romantic evening for two (we did that in Port Douglas), we decided to go into the city for drinks and be around lots and lots of people!
It was not easy to round up friends as everyone has kids and there is the issue of babysitters etc. However, Vic and Mars were up for the challenge and were looking for some fun and games!
Victoria did EXCELLENT research through her childless friends and coworkers and we went to three great places.
Our first stop was The Tilbury Hotel in Wooloomooloo. It is a funky restored older building with a restaurant downstairs and a lounge bar/big deck upstairs. We got there at about 7:30 pm and it was already very happening. The crowd were anywhere between 20 and 40 (?). The dj played a 'selection of electric tunes fused with a splash of disco'.
The food was inexpensive and good. We shared a couple of burgers, antipasto plate and cheese plate. The best part was the absolut passion cocktail -- 'a luscious blend of fresh mint smashed with limes & passionfruit shaken vigorously with absolut 100 and Aperol, lemoncello and charged with blood orange & served long. They were very yummy!!
Our two other stops were a short cab ride away in Surry Hills. The Dolphin and the Clock. Although the Clock had a better atmosphere, both were big, busy and lots of fun.
Everything closes up at midnight in Surry Hills as it is quite residential. Similar to cinderella, just before midnight we caught a cab, stopped for a quick kebab in Gladesville and were home to babysitter Emma in Northmead by 1am. Also our cabbie was Nepalese. Who knew there were any people from Nepal in Sydney??!!
Anyhow, what a fun fun evening! Thanks Vic and Mars!
