Hangin with Canucks!!

How's it going folks?  Enjoying the first week of 2008 I hope!

We've shared an enjoyable couple of days with Al, Teresa, Maya, and Tristan from back home.  Al teaches at PW with Fergus and the Cuerrier family are here on an exchange as well.  They are living two and a half hours north of us in a beach resort town called Nelson Bay.  Al is a crazy PE teacher originally from Ontario, Teresa is a registered massage therapist on sabbatical, Maya is 4 yrs old and Tristan is just 2 (both very cute!!).  They are doing a pit stop in Syds, on their way to Melbourne.

Saturday -

We've had our first day of 'bad' weather...heavy rain but still it was hot, sunny and bright.  We managed to survive a full day with four kids under the age of six in the duplex for a good part of the day.   Our families also managed to survive an excursion to K-Mart (wooo hoo) at Castle Towers Shopping Centre (it appeared to be bigger than Metrotown!) in Castle Hill to pick up 4 sleeping bags.  On our way home, we made two wee detours.  First a short drive through the Cumberland State Forest and then also to Castle Hill Heritage Park.

Castle Hill Heritage Park area has some an interesting history but the girls weren't interested.  They enjoyed the park instead and a short walk up to the look out point.

Sunday -

Today we drove out to the Sydney Olympic Park to check out the Aquatic Centre.  What a beautiful pool and the kids had a blast.  The roaming river was much faster than the one at Kilarney Pool!   $20 to get in for a family of four.  It was about 13 km away from our house so I doubt that we'll be going there too often.

Skyped home to Mom, Dad and Sharon this afternoon.  So nice to 'see' them.   I love technology -- NO long distance telephone bills!!

Next Week -

We're off to Nelson Bay tomorrow morning for about 5 days to stay at Al/Teresa's while they're down south.  They live 5 minutes walk from the beach!!  Can't Wait!!

Hey you lot,
We are having a blast but then again we are on holiday!
This seems to be the easy life over here with easy access to beaches, barbies and wildlife!
No worries as they say over here!
You should sign up for Skype and we can talk to you for free on the computer and view each other at the same time. We've been doing Skype with family back in Vancouver.
