Our lovely Aussie neighbours invited us to their family beach unit (apartment) up at The Entrance, about 1 hr. 15 minutes north of us for the Anzac long weekend. We have gotten to know Tony, Ejidia, Mariah, Sammy and Adam quite well. They are a warm welcoming family of Sicilian origin. Their kids and ours get on well which is fantastic!
We drove up midday Saturday and had a nice pub lunch and then we watched the daily 3:30pm pelican feeding at the waterfront. Them pelicans are weird creatures; the way their beaks stretch with the fish in their throats; very strange!! The Entrance is a busy place as it is so close to the city. We spent the rest of the afternoon at the bouncy castle, rides, face painting etc. The kids had a blast.
The apartment is on the top story of a 6 story apartment designed and built by Jid's Dad. The view and deck is AMAZING!! They are such a generous couple and we feel very lucky to be living next door to them!
Sunday morning, we awoke to a beautiful day. After a nice brunch, we drove past the main beach to a more secluded area and spent the rest of the day hanging out, collecting shells, kite flying, eating chips, walking and relaxing. We headed home at about 6:30pm and the kids were in bed by 8pm. Well Fiona was in bed as she fell asleep in the car. Margot fell asleep too but then woke up and wanted to watch the final of So You Think You Can Dance Australia. Jack won and we were thrilled!
