After some painful planning, I headed to the Rocks for a pub tour on Saturday night with Lisa, Amy, Mark, Gab, Vic, Fiona, Michelle, Andrew and friend Shane. It was initially meant to be 8 couples, but after some babysitting issues, etc. there were 9 of us. Poor Fergus missed out but he had a night out with his soccer team on the Friday night. We'll need to return to Canada to detox!!
On our Rocks tour, we stopped at five pubs. The Rocks is the oldest area of Sydney where "it all began"; but mostly it's pubs and more pubs. There were lots of folks out on a hens night, bucks night, 30th birthday, 40th birthday, lots of large groups of people having a good time on treasure hunts, etc. Surprisingly the food at all the pubs was really GOOD!! Pizza, emu wings, pork belly, calamari....YUM!!!
We started off at the rooftop beer garden at the Glenmore. It has a great view of the Opera House. Funny enough, the guy who took this picture is from Victoria, BC.
Next stop was the Australian, just a block away.
Then to The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel, the oldest hotel in Sydney (established in 1842). It took us a good 40 minutes to find it though!
Luckily, the Hero of Waterloo was just around the corner.

The official last stop was at a German bar -- Lowenbrau Keller. We lost four people at this time, it was 9pm and they headed back to the Hills; the rest of us headed off to the Spanish quarters for more drinking and dancing - The Spanish Club and La Campana!
Pork Belly....it was amazingly delicious!!!! Crunchy crackling!
