Christmas is a totally different experience here in Oz. The stores are decorated, people are putting up their trees and doing their shopping; but it seems as if everything is on a much smaller scale than in N. America.
In Australia, Santa wears shorts, flip flops, rides a ute (i.e. utility vehicle), surfs....he's just not the same guy as the one in the northern hemisphere!
On Sunday night we went to Fiona's preschool "Carols by Torchlight" evening. We sat around in our shorts/singlets, had some nibblies, and then sang about 10 Christmas Carols, including "Santa Wear Your Shorts"! December 1st is the first day of summer and just such a strange concept for us!
